Half on whatever they need
I’ll ask them what they’re short of that week and go buy it myself: food, school supplies, hygiene products, whatever they tell me. And I’ll take it there in person.

18 · 11 · 2026 · I'm turning 40
On November 18th I turn 40, and I don’t need anything. So I had another idea: let’s raise 500 € together for the girls at Daughters of Ruth, a home for girls here in Chiang Mai.
Each ray of the sun is one year. When all 40 light up, we’ll have reached 500 €.

What I’ll do with the money
I’ll ask them what they’re short of that week and go buy it myself: food, school supplies, hygiene products, whatever they tell me. And I’ll take it there in person.
50 € right now
I’ll give it to the foundation as a donation, so they can use it wherever it’s needed most. They know better than anyone where it hurts.

Once I’ve done the shopping and the drop-off, I’ll post the receipt here, and photos and videos from the day on my Instagram, @alberto.romero.ruiz.
Who it’s for
It’s a foundation in Mae Jo, San Sai, just outside Chiang Mai. Its Thai name is Rak Darunee. Since 2007 it has given a home to girls and young women aged 6 to 19 who’ve had it really hard: orphans, daughters of parents in prison, girls from broken families or at risk of being trafficked.
They live there and go to school from there. The foundation covers their food, schooling and everyday needs, and in the afternoons they learn sewing, crafts and English.
You won’t see the girls’ faces here, on purpose: their privacy and safety come first. The photo is the foundation’s own. See it on the map →

Thanks for reading this far, whether you give or not. And if you know someone who might like to join, send them the link.
Big hug, Alberto
